Two A9 crashes, in Sutherland and Perthshire, leave bikers injured

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following a crash involving three bikes on the A9 in the Highlands.

Two other riders were taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash south of Helmsdale in Sutherland at about 11:30.

In a separate incident on the A9 in Perthshire, a man in his 50s is believed to have been seriously injured in a motorbike crash.

A woman pillion passenger is thought to have received minor injuries in the Perthshire crash, on the Killiecrankie bypass at about 15:00.

The A9 in Perthshire was closed in both directions to allow investigations to take place. Police reported a significant build-up of traffic as a result.
