Funds raised for restoration of Black Isle's Kirkmichael

Kirkmichael Church The last surviving part of the roof collapsed under snow in April last year

Hundreds of thousands of pounds are being raised towards the restoration of a ruined historic Black Isle church.

Kirkmichael at Balblair was built in the Middle Ages but fell into disuse in the 18th Century.

The last surviving part of the roof collapsed under the weight of heavy snow in April last year.

The Kirkmichael Trust is trying to raise £689,676. Highland councillors are expected to approve a £70,000 grant on Wednesday.

Once restored, the trust has proposed creating a permanent display of medieval sculptured gravestones inside the building.
