Ben Nevis: Glasgow man who collapsed and died named

A man who died after collapsing during a walk up Ben Nevis on Saturday has been formally identified by police.

Officers said 51-year-old Gerard Boyle was a retired civil servant from the Glasgow area.

After he collapsed, Mr Boyle was airlifted to Belford Hospital in Fort William by an RAF helicopter but was pronounced dead on arrival.

His climbing partners and two off-duty doctors had tried to revive him on the mountain before the helicopter arrived.
