Woman dies after 100ft cliff plunge on Skye

A 48-year-old woman has died after plunging 100ft down a cliff at a popular tourist location on Skye.

The woman fell at the most westerly part of the island, Neist Point, on Saturday.

Emergency services were called at about 16:00 BST and the woman was taken to Broadford Hospital on Skye.

A Stornoway Coastguard spokeswoman said: "We received a request from ambulance control for assistance to a female who had fallen 100 feet."

The spokeswoman added: "The coastguard helicopter was scrambled and she was taken to Broadford Hospital on Skye."

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the woman had died.
