Toy sparks bomb alert at Inverness recycling site

A child's toy was to blame for sparking a bomb alert at a recycling centre in Inverness, police have confirmed.

The centre was closed as a precaution following the discovery of a suspected grenade-like explosive device.

Highland Council staff at the Henderson Road site were alerted by a member of the public who spotted the object on the ground near a recycling bay.

Police and a military bomb disposal team were called in but officers later confirmed the object had been a toy.
