Two women killed in a car crash in the Highlands have been named by police.

Emma Cameron, 38, and Rebecca McIntyre, 19, both from Muir of Ord, died at the scene of the one car collision on the A862 near Beauly on Saturday.

A boy and a man also travelling in the car were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.

The boy was later transferred by helicopter to the Southern General hospital in Glasgow and is said to be in a critical condition.

Part of the Inverness to Beauly Road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.

Officers said inquiries into the cause of the collision were continuing and they asked anyone with information to contact them.
