Bus driver dies and four injured after crash near Haster

A bus driver has died and several people have been injured after a crash near Haster in the Highlands on Monday.

The collision, involving the bus and a 4x4, happened on the A882 Wick to Watten road at about 21:20.

The 4x4 driver was cut free from the wreckage and airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where he is believed to be in a serious condition.

Three bus passengers were taken to Caithness General Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police Scotland said the road had been closed for accident investigations and diversions remained in place. Officers asked any witnesses to contact them.

No further details of the bus driver will be released until next of kin have been informed.
