The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) has asked its members to help efforts to trace a missing Inverness journalist.

Clive Dennier's employers contacted police on Monday after he failed to turn up for work at the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald.

The 50-year-old had spoken about going hill walking at the weekend, but no-one has heard from him since.

The MCofS said police had asked it to make an appeal to its members.

Walkers and climbers have been asked to look out for Mr Dennier and his car.

Police have been searching car parks in areas where he has previously been known to go walking.

Mr Dennier drives a silver Volkswagen Polo, registration number SX54 CXD. The car is missing its hub caps.
