Ardersier haulier facing six-week suspension

A Highland haulage firm has been banned from running its vehicles for six weeks after using a lorry not authorised on its licence.

Ardersier-based Scottish Accident Investigation (Services) Ltd had used the vehicle to make deliveries of timber to a factory.

Scotland's Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken has suspended the firm from operating its two licensed vehicles.

The six-week suspension starts on 24 March.

Scottish Accident Investigation (Services) Ltd was investigated by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency.

The company had stopped running the extra vehicle by November 2011, but Ms Aitken concluded its use had been an offence against fair competition.
