A man has pled guilty to repeatedly kicking a herring gull chick that later died.
Jack Mackay, 22, of Conon Bridge, Ross-shire, was fined £140 at Dingwall Justice of the Peace Court.
The court heard that, at one point, Mackay ran towards the bird and kicked it into the air. The gull was taken to a vet by a member of the public.
His actions at Pavilion Court in Dingwall on 1 August last year contravened laws protecting wildlife.
