Corpach's GlenIsla shellfish processing plant to shut

A shellfish processing plant near Fort William that employs 27 people is to be closed down on Friday.

Associated Seafoods Ltd (ASL) said the decision to shut the GlenIsla plant was made following a 30-day consultation with staff.

ASL said all the employees had been offered alternative work within the organisation.

It added that it was not clear at this stage how many staff would be taking up the offer.

The company said last month that the plant was at risk of closure.

ASL said it was transferring the Corpach operations to Buckie because of difficult trading conditions.
