Man accused of assault near Ness Islands

A 20-year-old from Inverness has been accused of assault with intent to rape a woman.

The alleged attack on a 22-year-old woman happened on Monday afternoon near the Ness Islands on the River Ness in Inverness.

Keith Mowat appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court before Sheriff Margaret Neilson.

Mr Mowat made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Following a separate incident, a 23-year-old Inverness man appeared in private on a charge of raping a female at an address in the city on Tuesday.

Robert Kerr made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and released on bail.
