Northern's drink-drive figures 'disappointing'

Thirteen drivers were caught drink driving by Northern Constabulary in the first week of a four-week road safety campaign.

The force said the figure was almost double the number of drink drivers stopped at the same time last year.

The campaign is being led by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos).

Insp Neil Lumsden, head of Northern's road policing unit, said the figures were "very disappointing".
