SAIS warns of 'avalanche hazard' in Northern Cairngorms
The avalanche warning has been issued for the Northern Cairngorms
Avalanches are likely in parts of the Northern Cairngorms, the Sportscotland Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) has warned.
SAIS has started giving forecasts for the area and also Lochaber.
The full service, which will include Creag Meagaidh, Glencoe and Southern Cairngorms, will begin on Thursday.
For Saturday, SAIS warned of a "considerable hazard" on north and east aspects above 800m (2,624ft) of the Northern Cairngorms.
Away from the at risk areas, all of Scotland's ski centres hoped to be open this weekend.
CairnGorm Mountain and the Lecht opened last weekend and Glencoe Mountain earlier this week.
Nevis Range and Glenshee hoped to have runs available for the weekend.
