Corpach shellfish processor GlenIsla could close
A shellfish processing plant near Fort William in Lochaber could close and its operations transferred to Buckie in Moray, its owner has said.
The GlenIsla factory at Corpach employs 27 staff.
Owner Associated Seafoods Ltd (ASL) said it was consulting the workforce on the future of the plant and on how job losses might be avoided.
The factory processes langoustine for export to markets in Europe and the Middle East.
A spokesman for ASL said: "This is a decision we have not taken lightly, but given the global recession and difficult trading conditions for shellfish, we have unfortunately no other option than to begin this consultation process on the future of the facility.
"Our priority will be to fully explore all avenues and, depending on the outcome, to consider ways of mitigating any possible job losses."
