Van to target shoplifters at Inverness Retail Park

Inverness Retail Park Inverness Retail Park will form part of Operation Respect this winter

A police van equipped with CCTV cameras is to patrol a city's largest retail park for the first time as part of a festive crime prevention campaign.

It will be used to detect and deter shoplifting at Inverness Retail Park.

Also for the first time, Operation Respect is to be widened out with police patrols to the Crown and Merkinch.

Previously, the festive campaign has concentrated on the centre of Inverness.

Operation Respect includes safety messages aimed at shoppers and party revellers.

Street Pastors and members of the British Red Cross also make themselves available in the city centre at night-time.
