Councillors have deferred making a decision on a wind farm which has been scaled down from 43 to 34 turbines.

The developers of the Glenmorie Wind Farm, planned for Kildermorie and Glencalvie Estate, near Ardgay, in Sutherland, amended their plans.

Highland planning officers recommended that the north planning applications committee raised no objection to it.

However, the councillors have agreed to defer making any comment until after a site visit on 14 January.

Highland Council has received 121 objections to the project. They received just one letter of support.

The Scottish government, which will have the final say on the plans, has had 209 objections and 32 backing the plans.

Landscape conservation charity the John Muir Trust is among the objectors.
