A five metre (16ft) high sculpture of an osprey feather will form part of a wider revamp of the centre of Boat of Garten in the Cairngorms National Park.
The village is close to RSPB Scotland's Loch Garten reserve where the birds of prey arrive each year to breed.
Boat of Garten's Station Square will also be transformed into an "information hub".
The hub will encourage travellers on the Strathspey Steam Railway to explore the village and surrounding area.
The railway links Boat of Garten with Aviemore.
Boat of Garten Community Company is leading the revamp project with funding from public bodies including the Cairngorms National Park Authority and Highland Council.
