Man airlifted in Lewis beach rescue

A man has been airlifted to hospital in the Western Isles after he became trapped on a beach by the rising tide.

The 59-year-old had been with his daughter walking dogs at Coll on the east coast of Lewis when they got into difficulty.

They used a mobile phone to raise the alarm at about 15:30.

The woman made it to dry land but her father had to be rescued by the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter. His condition was not known.
