Sickness bug shuts Skye hospital

Skye's Mackinnon Memorial hospital has been closed to new admissions and visitors after an outbreak of diarrhoea and sickness among patients and staff.

NHS Highland said the bug was also affecting people in the wider community.

Five patients and 14 members of staff at the hospital in Broadford have been affected.

NHS Highland said it was suspected that norovirus, which spreads in the air, may be the cause.
