Search under way for lost walker in Highlands

Police are co-ordinating an extensive search for a man who is overdue from a walk in the Glen Etive area.

Northern Constabulary said the man has been missing since 12:00 on Wednesday.

He was described as Scottish, in his 70s, of slim build, short white hair, about 5ft 8in tall and was wearing glasses.

The hillwalker was believed to have been on his own and was carrying a large green and maroon rucksack and had an orange survival pack with him.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, Oban Mountain Rescue Team and RAF Leuchars Mountain Rescue Team have been helping with the search.

Strathclyde Police have also been assisting Northern Constabulary with their inquiries.
