Mountaineering council's safety tweets as snow falls

A group representing walkers and climbers is highlighting its weekly safety message service as weather conditions become more autumnal.

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland's flagging up of its Twitter and Facebook posts also follow the first snow over the Cairngorms.

Snow fell briefly on Thursday over the highest parts of the range.

The MCofS's Something for the Weekend messages include weather warnings and in winter avalanche risk information.

They are issued every Friday.

MCofS mountain safety adviser Heather Morning said anyone could access the messages before heading into the hills.
