Police plea after man tried to lure girl into car in Wick

Police have appealed for information after a man tried to persuade a young girl to get into his car.

The 11-year-old was walking to a friend's house when the man drove up to her in Thurso Road, Wick, at about 18:30 on Sunday.

She ignored the man's request and ran to her friend's home.

Police said the man was described as being about 35 years old, with short dark brown hair, white stubble on his top lip and possibly an Irish accent.

He was also said have a large face, pointed nose and muscular arms, and was wearing a green t-shirt with dark blue horizontal stripes.

The car was a grey estate, with silver alloy wheels with white writing around the rims.

Police said it was thought a woman was also walking in the area at the time and who may have seen the incident.
