Skye man reported over alleged Lochcarron cable theft

A 28-year-old man from Skye is to appear in court in connection with the alleged theft of a fibre optic subsea cable at Lochcarron on 7 June.

Phone, internet and cash machine services across a wide area of the Highlands and Islands failed on that day, before being restored later.

Northern Constabulary said a man had been reported to the procurator fiscal.

The force said that he was expected to appear at Dornoch Sheriff Court on Monday.
