Fresh snow raises avalanche risk in Cairngorms

Fresh heavy snowfalls during the week have raised the risk of avalanches in the Northern Cairgorms, forecasters have warned.

The Sportscotland Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) has ended its daily forecasts for the latest season.

However, its staff continue to monitor conditions in the hills.

SAIS has warned of a "considerable" localised hazard on slopes above 850 metres (2,789ft) from Friday into the weekend.
