First osprey chick of new season at Loch Garten reserve

Staff at RSPB Scotland's Loch Garten reserve near Aviemore are celebrating the first osprey chick of the season.

Two other eggs in the nest were expected to hatch over the next few days.

Female parent bird EJ has raised several young at the Highlands site over the past nine years.

Like most ospreys, EJ spends the winter in West Africa before flying thousands of miles back to Scotland in late March or early April.
