Sconser ferry pier on Skye to be upgraded

Highland Council has announced that work will start on upgrading Sconser ferry pier on Skye this year.

The £3.5m project survived the local authority's capital budget cuts because it already has £500,000 of European funding in place.

The improvements will come just a year after £12m was spent on a new pier on Raasay, at the opposite side of the crossing.

Councillor John Laing said the work would benefit both locals and tourists.
