Highland comic convention cancelled

The Highlands' only comic book convention - Hi-Ex - will not be held in Inverness next year as planned.

Organisers said a lack of sponsorship and other pressures on their time meant they were unable to host an event "fans and guests deserved".

The exhibition of comic art and writing was due to be held at Eden Court on 26 and 27 March.

Organisers said cancelling the event had been the last thing they wanted to do, but hope to stage Hi-Ex in 2012.

They said: "We are planning smaller events such as comics workshops and signings throughout the year.

"The extra time gaining in not running the 2011 weekend event will be used to keep pursuing funding and garner more organisational support."
