Stornoway Golf Club is taking Western Isles Licensing Board to court for twice refusing applications to serve alcohol with Sunday lunches.

The club wants to increase income at weekends. It is also barred from allowing golf being played on Sundays.

The club is mounting a legal challenge against the board's decisions to reject changes to its drinks licence.

Playing on Sundays is not allowed in line with local requests that the course observes the Sabbath.
