A sniffer dog has joined the search for hedgehogs on the Western Isles.

Hedgehogs are not a native species on the islands and have been blamed for preying on the nests of wading birds.

Golden Labrador Misca will be used to find evidence of the mammals so they can be trapped and relocated to the mainland.

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), the agency leading the project, said a second, younger dog was also being trained to seek out hedgehogs.

Stephen Robinson has been appointed as the dogs' handler.
