Tallship grounded on rocks near Oban

Oban lifeboat The Oban lifeboat was involved in the operation

Oban Coastguard and the local lifeboat have gone to the rescue of a tallship which grounded on rocks off the Argyll coast.

Sixteen passengers were helped from the ship, the Flying Dutchman, at about 14.30 and were taken ashore by a diving vessel which was in the area.

Four crew and two passengers remained on board. No-one was injured.

The ship is now in Oban harbour, where a survey for damage will have to take place before she can leave port.
