Man arrested in Spain over alleged 2005 rape in Glasgow

A man has been arrested in Spain in connection with an alleged kidnapping and rape in Glasgow.

It has been reported that the Pakistani national was detained in Barcelona by National Police on an international warrant issued in Scotland.

The alleged offence is believed to have happened on 28 August 2005.

Police Scotland said they were aware a 34-year-old man had been arrested in Spain following co-operation between the force and the Crown Office.

A spokesman for the Crown Office said it was working with the Spanish authorities in relation to the arrest of a 34-year-old man.

"As this is a live investigation, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time," he said.
