No one hurt in large fire at tenement flats in Gourock
An investigation is under way into the cause of a large fire at a three-storey block of tenement flats in Gourock.
Emergency services were called to the blaze, in the Inverclyde town's Royal Street, at about 03:00 on Tuesday.
Fire crews found the top floor of the building well alight and used breathing apparatus to account for residents. All managed to escape and no-one was hurt.
At the height of the operation, about 25 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze.
Incident commander, group manager Albert Bruce, said: "This was a significant fire and the crews in attendance drew on their skill and experience to bring the flames under control.
"At the height of the incident we had 10 firefighters operating in breathing apparatus as a systematic search of the building confirmed everyone was accounted for."
Officers from the fire investigation unit and Police Scotland are now working to establish the cause of the blaze.
