A man is to stand trial charged with strangling to death a fellow prisoner at Glasgow's Barlinnie jail.

John Clark, 21, is accused of murdering Colin Penrose between 19 and 20 March this year.

It is alleged that he bound the 22-year-old's hands together with a piece of rope, placed a ligature around his neck and strangled him within a cell in Barlinnie's E-block area.

At the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lord Turnbull set a trial for November.
