Baton grab bid during Games relay

21 June 2014 Last updated at 19:37 BST

A man attempted to grab the Queen's Commonwealth baton as it was carried through the centre of Kilmarnock on Saturday evening.

Baton bearer Ian Paton, 18, was taking part in the relay in Portland Road when a man ran across the road and jumped up to try and reach the baton, before being caught by police officers.

The man was led away by police.

The East Ayrshire leg of the Queen's Baton Relay saw it pass through towns and villages including Auchinleck and Galston and the children's ward at Crosshouse Hospital.
