Woman in wheelchair robbed in East Dunbartonshire Park

Police are hunting two men who snatched a handbag from a woman in a wheelchair in a park in East Dunbartonshire.

The 47-year-old fell to the ground after the robbery in Waverley Park, Kirkintilloch, at 15:45 on Sunday.

She suffered minor scrapes and bruising but did not require medical attention and was helped by a passer by.

Police said the only description of the two suspects, who fled from the scene with a small amount of cash, is that they were white males.

Det Con John Johnstone, of Police Scotland, said: "Since Sunday, extensive inquiries have been ongoing in an effort to identify the men involved. Unfortunately the victim did not manage to get a description of the suspects other than they were white males.

"I believe that the park was busy last Sunday afternoon with families out enjoying the good weather and dog walkers.

"I would ask people who were in the park on Sunday afternoon, around 15:45 and remember seeing the woman in her wheelchair to come forward. They may have unwittingly seen something that would move this investigation forward."
