Scotland international rugby players charged with assault

Two Scottish rugby players have appeared in court charged with assaulting another player in Glasgow.

Rory Hughes, 21, and Ryan Grant, 28, are alleged to have assaulted Glasgow Hawks player Ally Maclay on Great Western Road, on 27 October last year.

Mr Hughes and Mr Grant, both Glasgow Warriors players, appeared at the city's sheriff court on Friday charged with assault to severe injury.

They made no plea or declaration and were granted bail.

Mr Hughes also faces a charge of breach of the peace.
