Murder charge after body found in River Clyde at Uddingston

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after the body of a woman was recovered from the River Clyde in South Lanarkshire.

The body of 60-year-old Eileen Glassford, from Motherwell, was found near Uddingston Grammar School at about 19:30 on Monday.

Paul Connelly, 49, from the Uddingston area, appeared in private at Hamilton Sheriff Court charged over the death.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

The case was committed for further examination.
