Several hurt in major crash involving cars and lorries on M74

Several people have been injured, three of them seriously, in a crash on the M74 involving six cars and two lorries.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Lanarkshire at about 16:25 on Monday.

The road was closed for about six hours northbound between J6 (Hamilton) and J5 (Raith), causing major delays.

An air ambulance and an ambulance special operations team were sent to the scene.

Police said a man had been airlifted to hospital. His injuries are thought to be serious.
