Castlemilk attack treated as attempted murder

A man has been seriously injured in a "violent attack" in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow, police have said.

Officers said the assault on the 37-year-old was being treated as attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to a disturbance at Hoddam Avenue at about 06:45. The victim was taken to the Victoria Infirmary where his condition was serious but stable.

Police said the inquiry was at an early stage.

They said there was currently no information about the suspect.

However officers were conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area.

Det Sgt Graham Scott said: "Today is a public holiday and many will have been at home around the time of the incident.

"Officers will be speaking to local residents today and I am urging them to provide as much information as possible and help us find the person responsible for this violent attack."
