A 40-year-old man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in East Ayrshire at the end of last week.

James Morley is accused of killing 46-year-old Elaine Duncan, whose body was found at a flat in Loudoun Road, Newmilns, late on Friday.

Police Scotland made the discovery after reports of an alleged disturbance.

Mr Morley, of Newmilns, made no plea or declaration at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.

He was also charged with threatening or abusive behaviour, causing fear and alarm, in connection with the death.
