Man, 32, badly hurt in Bridge of Weir street attack

A 32-year-old man has been badly injured in a street brawl in Renfrewshire at the weekend.

He was among a group of people involved in a disturbance on Main Street, Bridge of Weir, near Chillies takeaway, just after 01:00 on Sunday.

He was treated for a serious head wound and other facial injuries at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital but was later released.

Police are studying CCTV footage and have appealed for witnesses.

Det Con Neil Andrew, of Police Scotland, said: "The injured male had been out with friends in pubs local to Bridge of Weir.

"About 0100 hours, or shortly thereafter in the early hours, he became involved in a disturbance involving a group of people on the Main Street of Bridge of Weir near to Chillies takeaway. He was attacked, resulting in injuries to his head and face.

"Officers are checking CCTV from the area and carrying out other local inquiries."
