Commonwealth Games: Drivers face travel disruption

Glasgow motorists will face significant disruption due to road closures and travel restrictions being put in place during the Commonwealth Games period.

A designated "Games Lane" will result in lane closures from the Athletes Village, and venues in the east of the city, through to the SECC.

The slip road from the Kingston Bridge down to the Clydeside Expressway will be also closed.

Details of the travel arrangements were sent to local businesses on Tuesday.

A Glasgow 2014 spokesperson said: "We have been engaging with a wide range of Glasgow businesses and relevant membership organisations since mid-February through a series of practical transport workshops designed to help them plan for the games.

"We will continue to share information as detailed planning develops, with the aim of ensuring that Glasgow is getting ready for the games and that the city hosts a successful event for all, including visitors and businesses."
