Man, 65, dies after being hit by car on A82 at Dumbarton

A 65-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while crossing the A82 Stirling Road in Dumbarton.

The pedestrian was hit by a westbound Ford Transit van at about 17:20 on Tuesday. He died in Glasgow's Southern General Hospital on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old man who was driving the van, and his male passenger, were uninjured but left badly shaken.

Police appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The A82 was closed in both directions following the crash and has since re-opened.
