Ticket examiner on train in Glasgow fends off robber

British Transport Police (BTP) are hunting a man who attempted to rob a ticket examiner on a train in Glasgow.

The incident happened shortly after the 19:06 Larkhall to Dalmuir service left Anniesland station at 19:50 on Friday.

The man threatened the examiner and demanded money when the train worker approached him to check his ticket.

There was a short struggle but the ticket examiner was not injured, although left shaken. BTP is checking CCTV to identify the man responsible.

Det Con Craig Jennings said: "I am aware there were other passengers on the train and indeed a man telephoned for police assistance.

"I am asking anyone who was on the train, particularly the man who phoned, and can provide information that can help our inquiry to get in touch."
