A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with racially abusing an MSP outside Glasgow's Queen Street station.

Christopher Chisholm, from Gartcosh, North Lanarkshire, is alleged to have shouted, sworn and made racist remarks at Humza Yousaf on 7 February.

He is accused of acting in a "racially aggravated manner" which caused or was intended to cause alarm or distress.

Mr Chisholm made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court and was released on bail.

He is expected to appear at court again at a later date.

Mr Yousaf was selling the Big Issue magazine as part of an awareness initiative when the alleged incident took place on Dundas Street.

The 28-year-old SNP MSP is also Minister for External Affairs and International Development.
