Four held after police seize cannabis worth almost £250,000

Police have made four arrests after uncovering almost £250,000 worth of cannabis in a cottage.

Officers, acting on intelligence reports, targeted the property in the North Lanarkshire village of Cleland.

Two men, aged 62 and 57, and two women, aged 59 and 36, were arrested and were expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

The operation is one of several major drug seizures carried out by officers in the past fortnight.

Officers searched a business property in Cumbernauld and recovered cannabis with an estimated street value of £1.2m on 4 February.

Police also seized £1.1m of speed - or amphetamine sulphate - from a van near Larkhall on 4 February and £1m of heroin from a house in Glasgow on 29 January.
