'Poison bait' probe after South Lanarkshire bird death

Police are investigating the discovery of suspected poisoned bait which was found on open ground near the carcass of a wild bird in South Lanarkshire.

The bait was recovered in the Carmichael area on Wednesday morning. It has been sent for forensic analysis.

Police have asked anyone who was in the area at the time, or with information about the case, to contact them.

They have advised members of the public to "exercise caution" if they come across any animal or bird carcasses.

Police said any suspicious finds should be reported immediately.
