Gun alert at Gala Casino in Glasgow

A man has been arrested after police were called to reports of someone brandishing a gun at a casino in the centre of Glasgow.

Officers were called to the Gala Casino on Glassford Street shortly after 14:30 on Tuesday afternoon. It is understood the weapon involved was a replica.

Police Scotland said a 40-year-old-man was detained and charged with a firearms offence.

The man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At no time during the incident was there any threat to the public."
