Drugs and firearms seized in Paisley, Johnstone, Erskine and Chryston

Three people have been arrested after police seized drugs and firearms in raids in Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire.

Heroin and cocaine estimated to be worth more than £410,000 were recovered after officers searched properties in Johnstone, Paisley, Erskine and Chryston on Friday.

Three men aged 32, 42 and 55 were detained in connection with alleged drugs and firearms offences.

They were expected to appear in court on Monday.

Police Scotland said officers searched business premises in McDowall Street, Johnstone, and recovered a quantity of heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of more than £250,000. A firearm was also recovered.

A house in Teviot Terrace, Foxbar, Paisley, was also searched in connection with the operation. Officers recovered a quantity of mixing agent.

At a house in St Anne's Wynd, Erskine, police recovered heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of about £76,000, several firearms, cash and mixing agent.

In Chryston, officers searched a house in Laverock Terrace and seized heroin with an estimated street value of £93,000.

Police said that when the mixing agent recovered in the raids was taken into consideration the drugs seized had a further potential value of about £3m.

Det Chf Insp Kenny Armstrong said: "This operation demonstrates our continued efforts in tackling serious and organised crime, and rid our communities of drugs.

"This remains a very high priority for us and we will continue to keep people safe by targeting those who are involved in the supply of illegal drugs.

"If anyone has any information about drugs in their community I would ask them to please pass that information on to police and be assured that we take the appropriate action."
